Giuliano Noci, born in Mantua in 1967, is a full professor in Economic-Managerial Engineering; he holds the chair of Strategy & Marketing at the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano. Since 2011, he has been the Deputy Rector of the Milanese university, where he was also the Rector’s delegate for the Russian Federation (2006-2013) and India (2006-2010).
In 2023, he was included by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier in the top 2% of the most cited researchers in the world. He is currently a member of the Committee for the definition of the national strategy on artificial intelligence of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. He is a board member of Polimilano Educational Consulting Ltd – a company created by the Milanese university to carry out postgraduate training and advisory projects in China -, of Sidera – a joint venture between the Politecnico di Milano Foundation and Tsinghua University (the most important university in China) –. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of TongJi University in Shanghai and a member of the Scientific Committee of the magazine Mondo Cinese. On the occasion of Expo 2015, he was President of Explora ScpA – a company participated by the Milan Chamber of Commerce, the Lombardy Region, and Expo SpA for the international enhancement of the tourist and cultural offer of Expo Milano -. From 2001 to 2023, he was a member of the Board of the Department of Management Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano. He was part of the Technical Mission Structure for strategic direction, infrastructure development, and high surveillance at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (with the mandate to promote collaboration initiatives between Italy and China). From 2003 to 2010, he worked as a management control expert in the Internal Control Service of the Ministry of the Interior. From 2015 to 2019, he was a member of the Board of Directors of MIP Politecnico di Milano Graduate School of Business and from 2019 to 2025, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Macron SpA, a well-known sports brand operating on an international scale.
On the professional front, he carries out advisory, coaching, and mentoring activities for numerous multinational (and non) companies operating in Italy (automotive, telecommunications, consumer goods, digital platforms, communication) in the context of advanced marketing analytics projects, strategic turnaround, (re)-definition of business models, support for defining strategies aimed at managing digital transformation. He is continuously called upon to produce pro-veritate opinions for leading international groups; among others, he played the role of CTP (on behalf of Lloyd) in the Costa Concordia disaster, (on behalf of the Amenduni family) in the Ilva trial, (on behalf of a board member) in the San Raffaele / Monte Tabor Foundation trial, and in numerous debates concerning e-commerce projects and the introduction of digital automation systems. In 2024, he launched a project, of which he is currently the scientific director, called the Knowledge Hub, which aims – thanks to the involvement of the main stakeholders in the area – to support the competitiveness of a homogeneous area represented by eastern Lombardy.
He has always paid great attention to internationalization issues. He has supported numerous Made in Italy companies (both in the B2C and B2B sectors) in preparing strategic plans aimed at foreign markets. In his role as Deputy Rector for China, he created and coordinated the project aimed at creating the first abroad campus of the Politecnico di Milano in Xi’an and was the founder, within the Bovisa Campus of the Politecnico di Milano, of a Joint Campus (between the Milanese university and Tsinghua University) aimed at Chinese companies interested in developing know-how in close collaboration with Italian companies, laboratories, and research centers. As an expert of the Russian Federation, he developed initiatives aimed at creating industrial partnerships with Italian companies and, on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Development, coordinated the Italy-Russia task force on technological innovation for three years.
He is the author of numerous books and articles, published in international scientific journals, some of which have been awarded as the best essays of the year internationally. Among his latest publications, in particular: “Mobile marketing. Beyond Apps… for a true multichannel strategy”, “Marketing reloaded. Levers and tools for the co-creation of multichannel experiences” and “Biomarketing”. In 2025, he published his latest book entitled “Disorder – The new coordinates of the world”, which aims to interpret the geopolitical complexity of our days and consequently propose new keys to understanding to prevent disorder from turning into chaos.
He is editorialist for IlSole24Ore and Il Mattino and collaborates continuously with Corriere della Sera, France Presse, and Bloomberg. He participates as a commentator on television programs (TG1, TG2, and TG3-Economy, Rai News24, SkyTg24, Rete4, TgCom24, Bloomberg TV, and Class CNBC) and radio programs (Radio Rai1, Radio 24, and Radio Radicale).
